Who we are
Martin Otto and Moritz Brink
Martin Otto founded PhysioPower in 2013 and has been a wrestler since childhood, most recently in the German Bundesliga in 2024. Moritz Brink is a physiotherapist and sports scientist and a long-distance runner. Treatment in English is no problem. Forms, prescriptions and Doctolib are in German, and we walk you through them.
We welcome international patients from the whole Aachen area, from RWTH and FH Aachen, and from across the nearby Belgian and Dutch border.
Our services
With a doctor's prescription, for all German statutory health insurers (gesetzliche Krankenkassen) and private patients. The focus is always the same: active therapy that builds up what you can bear.
Physiotherapy (Krankengymnastik)
Examine, explain, exercise: active therapy for back, neck, shoulder, knee and hip problems and after operations. With strength training on Keiser machines and exercises for home.
- Back, neck, shoulder, knee, hip
- After surgery and injuries
- With measurements you can compare
Manual therapy
Targeted hands-on techniques for joints and tissue that open the window for movement. Always combined with exercise.
- Mobilising joints and spine
- For stiffness and restricted movement
- What is gained is then trained
Home visits
If you cannot get to the practice, we come to you: Venwegen, Breinig, Büsbach, Zweifall, Walheim, Kornelimünster, Schmithof, Hahn, Friesenrath and Rott.
- With "Hausbesuch" ticked on the prescription
- Fixed rounds, by bicycle
- Request via WhatsApp
Device-based physiotherapy (Krankengymnastik am Gerät, KGG) as a separate prescription can only be billed for privately insured patients. There is no gym-style training without treatment.
How we work
Four steps that make you stronger
Every treatment has two parts, and the second one matters more. What you can only do under supervision does not help you at home.
- 01
Examine
Thoroughly at the first appointment: history, mobility, strength, nerve function, warning signs. Then specifically. We measure, so that we can compare later.
- 02
Explain
What is probably going on, and what is not. Without threatening words and without jargon, until you could explain it yourself. Those who understand are less afraid of movement.
- 03
Train
The load that challenges you without overloading you. With a band, on guided machines, in daily life. Most of the time you do the work yourself.
- 04
Measure
Strength, distance, repetitions, pain. The same tests at the start and after six weeks, so that we both see whether the plan works.
"I have never seen anyone get stronger by waiting. Not on the wrestling mat and not in thirteen years of practice."

Prescription, insurance and costs in Germany
If you are new to the German system: physiotherapy is prescribed by a doctor and mostly paid by your health insurer. Here is what you need to know.
Get a prescription
See your GP (Hausarzt) or a specialist such as an orthopaedic surgeon. They issue a physiotherapy prescription (Heilmittelverordnung, usually just called "Rezept"), typically for six sessions of Krankengymnastik or manual therapy.
Book within 28 days
The first session must take place within 28 days of the date on the prescription, within 7 days if it was issued at hospital discharge. After that the prescription expires. So book as soon as you have it; you can book before you have the paper in hand.
Bring prescription and card
To the first appointment bring the prescription, your insurance card (elektronische Gesundheitskarte) and any medical reports or imaging results. Wear comfortable clothes.
Keep the gaps short
With statutory insurance there may be no more than 14 days between two sessions, otherwise the prescription becomes invalid. If you need a longer break, tell us the reason and we document it.
Statutory insurance (gesetzlich versichert)
We treat members of all German statutory insurers, for example TK, AOK, Barmer, DAK and IKK. The insurer pays the treatment. You pay the legal co-payment: 10 percent of the cost plus 10 euros per prescription, roughly 28 euros for six sessions of physiotherapy, paid at the practice in cash or by card. Children and young people under 18 pay nothing, and you can apply to your insurer for an exemption if your co-payments exceed 2 percent of your gross income.
Private and international insurance
Private patients, civil servants with Beihilfe and patients with an international health plan receive an invoice from us, which they submit to their insurer for reimbursement. Most tariffs cover the usual physiotherapy rates in full; if you are unsure, send your insurer the prescription in advance. A doctor's prescription is needed in every case.
How to book on Doctolib
All appointments are booked online via Doctolib, the platform most German practices use. It is in German, but the steps are simple:
- Open our booking page on Doctolib.
- Choose your insurance: "Gesetzlich versichert" (statutory) or "Privat versichert" (private or international).
- Choose the reason for the visit as it is written on your prescription: "Krankengymnastik" (physiotherapy) or "Manuelle Therapie" (manual therapy). For a first visit pick the option marked "Ersttermin" or "neuer Patient" if it is offered.
- Pick a free slot. Doctolib shows every free appointment in real time.
- Create a free Doctolib account with your phone number, or log in. You will get a confirmation and a reminder by e-mail or text.
You can move or cancel appointments in Doctolib up to 24 hours in advance. Cancelling later than that can be charged, because the slot can no longer be given to someone else.
If you get stuck, send us a WhatsApp message in English on 02408 9508380 and we book it for you.

Home visits around Venwegen
After an operation, after a stroke or in old age, when the way to the practice is not possible, we come to you, including to care homes. Your doctor ticks "Hausbesuch" on the prescription. We have been doing home visits since 2013 and since the end of 2025 we do them by bicycle, on fixed rounds through Venwegen, Breinig, Büsbach, Zweifall, Walheim, Kornelimünster, Schmithof, Hahn, Friesenrath and Rott.
To arrange one, send a WhatsApp message with your address and a photo of the prescription to 02408 9508380. We tell you which day is possible in your village.

Yes. Treatment requires a doctor's prescription, whether you are insured with a statutory insurer, privately or with an international plan. You can book the appointment before you have it.
